Terms of Service

1. What PutPut is

PutPut ("the Service") is a file upload and hosting API operated from the United States. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

2. Accounts and tokens

PutPut offers three account tiers. The paid plan is also available at a discounted annual rate, billed as a lump sum via Stripe.

Guest tokens require no signup. They provide 1 GB of storage, a 100 MB max file size, and expire after 14 days of inactivity. Guest uploads are restricted to non-executable content types.

Free accounts are created by claiming a guest token with an email. They provide 10 GB of storage, 250 MB max file size, and do not expire.

Pro accounts cost $9/month ($7.50/month billed annually) and include 50 GB of storage, no file size limit, custom domain support, and private files. Storage beyond the included 50 GB is billed at $0.10 per additional GB per month. Billing is handled through Stripe.

3. Billing and refunds

The Pro plan is billed monthly or annually via Stripe. Annual plans are billed as a single lump-sum payment for the full year. Storage overage charges are billed monthly based on usage.

There are no partial refunds for unused time on monthly plans. Annual plans may be refunded within 14 days of purchase if no significant usage has occurred on the account.

We may change plan pricing at any time with at least 30 days' notice to affected users. Price changes do not apply retroactively to the current billing period.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use PutPut to store or distribute:

• Malware, viruses, or any code designed to harm systems or users
• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — reported immediately to NCMEC
• Content that infringes copyright (subject to DMCA process below)
• Phishing pages, credential harvesting, or social engineering content
• Spam, bulk unsolicited distribution, or SEO manipulation
• Content that violates applicable law

We reserve the right to remove content and terminate accounts that violate these rules without notice.

5. Storage and limits

Storage limits, file size caps, and rate limits are enforced per plan. We may adjust plan limits with 30 days' notice. We do not guarantee permanent storage — maintain your own backups.

Storage reclaim. Files on expired guest tokens are deleted after 14 days of inactivity. Free account files may be reclaimed after 30 days of inactivity. Paid plans are never subject to storage reclaim while the subscription is active.

Cancellation downgrade. When a paid subscription is cancelled, the account drops to the Free tier at the end of the billing period. If stored files exceed the Free storage cap, you will have a 90-day read-only grace period to download your files before excess data is removed.

Egress. There are no bandwidth or egress charges on any plan. All downloads are free.

Overages. Pro accounts that exceed their included 50 GB storage are billed at $0.10 per additional GB per month.

6. DMCA and copyright

We respond to valid DMCA takedown notices. To report copyright infringement, email abuse@putput.io with:

• Identification of the copyrighted work
• The URL of the infringing file on PutPut
• Your contact information
• A statement of good faith belief and accuracy under penalty of perjury
• Your physical or electronic signature

We will remove or disable access to infringing content promptly upon receipt of a valid notice. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.

7. Account termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms, abuse of the Service, or extended inactivity (guest tokens only). You may delete your account and files at any time through the API or dashboard. Upon termination, your files will be deleted.

8. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. PutPut is not liable for any data loss, downtime, or damages arising from use of the Service, including but not limited to indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold PutPut harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or content you upload.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will make reasonable effort to notify users with registered email addresses.

11. Dispute resolution

Informal resolution. Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at support@putput.io and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days through good-faith negotiation.

Binding arbitration. If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from these terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration administered under the AAA Commercial Arbitration Rules. For claims under $10,000, arbitration will be conducted on the basis of written submissions unless either party requests an in-person hearing.

Small claims court. Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court instead of arbitration.

Class action waiver. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against PutPut.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

13. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PutPut regarding the Service, and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, or representations.
